Riley sat alone in a corner of the library, random books scattered around the table in front of her. Nothing was interesting enough to distract her from her rambling thoughts. She pulled off her robes, layed them over the back of the chair, and loosened her tie. The library was stuffy today. Or maybe it's just me. Riley absent mindedly flipped through the pages of a very large book that was nearest to her. She didn't even know the title of it. It had already been on the table when she had came in. The library was still and silent. All the other students were outside, enjoying the grounds before the weather got too cold to be outside much. Riley really was completely and totally alone. She had never felt it more than now. She didn't fit in at home and she didn't really fit in at Hogwarts, the one place she really, truely loved. Magic was her life. Her passion. She wasn't really sure who she was without it. She mulled these thoughts over and over in her. She wished desperately for someone; a friend. She had never been interested in friends, But now she wanted somebody to talk to and laugh with. A person to distract her from her thoughts, fears, and worries. Her thoughts drifted to people she knew. People at Hogwarts and people at home. Nobody seemed to fit quite right except...Mike. Her face blended into the red of her hair the moment the name came into her thoughts. She scolded herself silently. She was being utterly ridiculous. There was no way. Besides, she barely knew him. She had watched him curiously as the years had gone by. But their last conversation on the front steps had been a disaster. AND he had a girlfriend. And Riley would never do that to another person...especially not another Gryffindor. You're being silly! She opened another book and forced the thoughts out of her head...very unsuccessfully.

Riley replayed that kiss over and over in her head. She felt dizzy...and sick. It had gotten completely and totally out of hand! The entire thing. Riley would never, NEVER lose control like Audrey had. It was utterly ridiculous. She could have been nicer about it. Seriously. Riley said to herself about Audrey's reaction. It's not like I was TRYING to steal her boyfriend. Riley slammed the book closed. Little bits of dust floated into the air, and Riley coughed. She watched the little flurries of dust float in and out of the light streaming in from the windows. Flying...That would be fun right now...and realxing. She considered it thuroughly. Flying would let her thoughts sore and give her a break from them. But leaving the solitary library wasn't the most appealing idea. She could run into Audrey, or worse. Mike.

He wants to be friends? Why would he want to be friends with me? Riley tried to figure out. I mean there was no reason. Really, there wasn't. People weren't just randomly nice to her. They generally ignored her very existance as often as possible. She always figured that nobody liked her because she knew entirely too much about almost everybody. She had quietly witnessed enough dirty little secrets to easily blackmail most of the school, not that she ever would. How is it that I know everyones deepest, darkest secrets, and I am the last person to know that most common, everyday news? Riley asked herself. She was always the least informed on the latest, most known occurances. It drove her bloody mad!! Not knowing things everyone else did never failed at making an idiot out of her.

Trying to forget of the whole problem between Audrey and Riley, Mike figured he'd go to the library. He entered the library and pulled a book on wolves out of his bag. He placed it on the counter of the librarian's desk. He saw students here and there in the main part of the library studying. He walked up a flght of steps to the section where he had gotten his previous book. "There has to be more on the subject here.." he muttered to himself running a finger along the spines looking for the right one.

Riley looked up as she heard foot steps. You've got to be freaken kidding me! Really! Is it too much to ask to be alone??? She slumped down in her chair a little more, desperately hoping the person would 1) Not see her or 2) Be completely uninterested in her. She dug through her satchel for a quill. The chances of being interrupted seemed lower if she looked busy. She started scribbling away non-existant words on a scratch piece of parchment.

Mike pulled two books from the shelf. He heard the faintest noise of the scratching of Riley's quill but thought nothing of it. He turned looking up at the category signs for which section was where. He saw Family History was up one aisle. He went to that aisle and picked up a book listing famous wizarding families and their histories. He turned the corner and saw Riley there, she looked busy and she probably had alot on her mind, as did he. So maybe he'd try his best to ignore her. He turned to another shelf scanning for another book.

I'm pathetic. Riley said to herself. I can't go through live avoiding everyone. I'm a witch. I'm a Gryffindor. I should have more courage. I mean honestly. She made her decision. She was going to face her fears. She was going to march straight outside, find Audrey and Mike, and say exactly what was on her mind.....maybe. She shoved all her things into her bag and piled up the books. Riley looked down at the book on top. She searched for the shelf on which it belonged. Not paying the attention to where she was going, Riley turned down one of the rows of shelves, and ran straight into, "MIKE!" Riley gasped. Books went flying from Rileys hands to the ground. She looked up from the scattered books up to Mike's face.

"Oh Riley." Mike said, seeing her, trying to act surprised, but though he knew she was there the whole time. Mike set the books in his arms and his bags down, he stopped down to pick up the books for her. He wanted to say something, but couldn't. The only thing he said to break the silence, "Here you are." as he finished picking up her books and handing them to her. "And look, about what happened earlier... I'm still sorry." he said to her.

"Don't worry about it. Honestly. It's not a big deal at all," Riley said sincerely. She smiled at him, as she bent down to help him pick up the books. She wanted to sit there in the library with him forever. To tell him all the things she thought and felt. She wanted to forget Audrey ever existed. But she knew she couldn't. She wasn't going to be the bad guy here. She tried to think of something to say. Something not too deep, but something that didn't make her seem shallow. Nothing came into her head. So she just looked at him. Studied his movements, his expressions, every detail, no matter how big or how small. She was completely overwhelmed by him.

Hoping to forget the whole dilemma of what had been going on, Mike thought for something else to mention. "So... have much work? It looked like it when I saw you writing just a few minutes ago." he said, feeling kinda stupid. The best thing he could think to say, and that was it. Mike gazed down at the book he had in his hand about the Wizarding Families, he had stuck a piece of parchment into a spot in the book that referred to his family. He held the book closed hoping to get an oppertunity to be alone to look through this to find out if the rumor he had heard about his family was true or not.

Riley was caught off gaurd by his queston. She turned bright scarlett and laughed. "No, actually. Just trying to divert attention from myself." She was surprised by her honesty. She never told anyone the exact truth, just some version. She noticed the book in his hand. "Family history, eh? Any particular family you interested in?"

"Uh oh this..." he said, hoping not to get much attention on the subject of the book. "Uh no, not really, I just thought you know, maybe look in to some friend's family's histories out of curiosity." which was partially the truth, although he wanted the book mostly to research his own. "Maybe check out histories of staff here." he shrugged.

"That's interesting. Could be kinda stalkerish," Riley laughed. Her odd sense of humor was showing through, much to her dismay. "Just don't look up mine," she requested. Her family history had more skeletons than a graveyard, and she would rather they all stay buried.

"Hah, no worries i won't." Mike said laughing a bit. Truthfully, Mike wanted the book because he heard out in the streets of Diagon Alley one day from a group of passerbyers as Mike oveheard their conversation, saying how, the Blaze family had some sort of alliance with werewolves and wolves. A pack of some sort, and in that pack was none other than Fenrir Greyback, but this was long ago. He needed to know the truth about this, his Patronus was a wolf, he hadn't learned animagi yet, but for years had worried if he ever learned how, his anamgi would be a wolf, he wouldn't mind it. But the whole pack thing was centuries ago, he didn't wish to bring up the whole subject again. Of course, animagi's have their own minds, but what would someone to say if they saw his animagi as a wolf?

"Is this not akward to you?" Riley asked. Maybe it was just her lack of social experience that made a simple conversation so extremely complicated. She never knew what to say. She was in constant fear of embarrassing herself terribly. So much for that Gryffindor courage Riley thought.
