Because Brook was sitting herself there was nothing to do, so she just sat and watched the group of people arguing and it looked like there was loads of drama going on. She sat up right and looked forward, for where she was sitting she couldn't really hear what they were saying. She looked at them some more, not wanting to make it soo notically, but she did notice a guy walking passed them, kinda weird her attention going over to a guy when there is liked an argument going on. she sat back still watching them. She didn't really want to hear what they said, it had nothing to do with her and it was none of her bee'z waxz (haha).. again because she was herself she could think of anything to do, well... What could she do to keep herself happy? well i guess she could think about the passed, or maybe some other stuff, or she could think about gettin' a new puppy, that would be cute. Becuase she was thinking about herslef getting a cute little puppy, she thought about what ones she could get and what one she would like and all that, but the one she would like the most was a Boreder Collie. Now she was done thinking about the puppy it was making her want a little puppy, but she knew she wasn't actually wanting one the now, but she would like one. She looked away from the drama and tryed to take her attention off the group arguing, althought it was the only thing that was going on right now but ohhh well >_> but because the group was big her attention kept getting pulled back in, so she turned right round in her seat and watched the people. It was intertaining, but for them it looked like they were trying to sort something out, but who knows because Brook can't hear them. She was starting to get bored and all there was to do was watch this group of people arguing over something. She would go forward but then it would look too, whats the word, i can't remember, but we'll come back to that one soon ? maybe. She kept looking at the group, well everyone was? or was it just her looking at her ? maybe but it looked to be quiet alot of people watching - looking. And Brook Cyrus had to be one of then right enough. Now she could think of anything to do because it was hard to hear them. Whyd oes she want to her them, that was like saying she wanted to be a part of it but she didn't. Why could someone come along and take her mind off it? someone ... When the guy started to walk over to her she knew he would take her mind off them, or would he? she watched him walking up then looked away, when he sat down, she looked round to him and smiled alittle bit, "Hi" she said looking at him and then looking back to the group of people. OOC - sorry this reply is rubbish >____>

The drama had subsided, and Moki returned to dancing, but it was somewhat lonely and she found herself looking around the Great Hall once more for a familiar (and friendly) face. Her eyes fell on George, whom she hadn't noticed earlier, who was talking to a blonde girl on one side of the room. She was a Ravenclaw too, which was neat, because George had mentioned he didn't have a lot of close friends. Maybe she would become one. Moki didn't want to interrupt in case they were talking about something personal - it didn't really look like it, but she felt like she'd butted into enough people's business for the day. Deciding she was kind of hungry, she went over to one of the refreshment tables and picked up a giant cookie, which she bit into with a vengeance.

"Well I am doing better now," she said smiling and raising one eyebrow.
"Good. You looked like you were having some trouble back there." Hunter said with a mischievious smile, nodding towards the door. The next song came on, but it didn't stop the boy from making conversation. "So who was that anyway? Riley, obviously, but who was the other girl?" Hunter was pretty sure he'd never met the underdressed girl. It wasn't often that he forgot a girl's face. Name? Oh yeah, but not the face.
This song was faster paced, so Hunter grabbed Julia and pulled her as close as possible. That's how you had to dance to songs like this, right? Hunter laughed to himself and scanned the room once more. He spotted Moki killing a cookie, but still no Cady. Maybe he'd grab a butterbeer after this dance and Moki, too, while he was at it.

She smiled up at him as he asked about her troubles. "Yeah, she is my cousin, unfortunately. She likes this guy, he is a bit of a...mmhhh... ladies man... like yourself. Tonight she found out this guy is dating a first year and that... I did some things with the guy, if you know what I mean. Of course she doesn't understand the whole, I made out with him but I have no feelings for him thing," she said quite easily. She was a very open person, she didn't care what people thought of her. Plus hunter was a member of the Players club, dude, he was like the president, so he would understand her exploits. Julia enjoyed dancing so close to him, she could feel his muscles bulging through his shirt. Oh god. Why were all the guys around here so ripped? They made it very hard to be good. "This is nice," she said grinning up at him, "We should do this more often, possibly without so many... people around." She winked at him seductively.

I did some things with the guy, if you know what I mean. Of course she doesn't understand the whole, I made out with him but I have no feelings for him thing,"
"Cousin, eh? I didn't know you had any cousins." Hunter thought about that for a second. "Especially not ones that wouldn't understand a kiss with no feelings." Hunter stopped dancing for a minute, leaned down, and kissed Julia. More than just a peck, and not quickly like he had the last time. He let heat and passion flow from his lips to hers. Then, as suddenly as he has started the kiss, he pulled away. "Like that." The boy started moving to the music again, like nothing had happened at all, because, to him, nothing had. Like he'd said: no feelings. Hunter graced Julia with a genuine smile. "Now what did you and this said 'Ladie's Man' do? I want to know what my competition is selling. And why was he with a first year? How old is this kid?" He scanned the room looking for a guy that Julia might find attractive standing near a girl that looked like she was eleven. He didn't see anyone that fit the bill.
"This is nice," she said grinning up at him, "We should do this more often, possibly without so many... people around." She winked at him seductively.
A pang of guilt shot through Hunter's gut. Though he didn't let it show on his face, he could feel his hands tighten around Julia's waist. Maybe she would mistake that for encouragement. Once again, Hunter put up the cocky mask and winked for an extra measure of arrogance. "We could work something out, I'm sure. After all, I'm a seventh year trouble maker. I know where all the best hide outs are." The blonde boy let his signature mischievious smile slide onto his face, hiding what he was really thinking about. Why was he feeling guilty? Cady and he were not dating. They hadn't really even spoken since the scene in his bedroom, before term started. So why, for the first time in his life, was he feeling guilty? It wasn't like Julia was under the impression that anything she would do with him was going to mean anything at all. Hunter hated feeling guilty. It's pretty much the reason he never dated anyone seriously.

"Family, what can you do? You don't get to choose them," she said shrugging her shoulders, which was kinda hard to do with his death grip on her. "Lets just say I am nothing like her," she said looking up at him again. He was really extremely tall because Julia was not short, she was average height and she was getting a pain in her neck from looking up at him so much. It made him only slightly less attractive. But you know what they say about tall guys.
Julia was not as surprised by his second kiss and was able to enjoy it a lot more. She wrapped her arms around his neck to contribute to the kiss a bit. He was a great kisser. "Exactly like that," she said with a grin, "Except you are way better then that Eric character, he is still a bit of an amateur compared to you." She wrinkled her nose the way she did when she was a kid. Her father said it was charming, so she would do it just to make him smile when he was down. It had sorta become involuntary since then. "Wouldn't you like to know," she said with a laugh, "Maybe I'll show you someday." She saw him scanning the room, probably looking for the pedophile in the room. "She is like eleven, and my cousin is thirteen, he is my age, I didn't know he was such a creep before hand," she assured him. She sort of wished she hadn't let done anything with him, but it wasn't all bad.
"Well you have to show me some of them, I could use some hiding spots," she said with a smile. It was true, she had taken Eric to the dungeons, but it was all dark and a little smelly down there. It really didn't put anyone in the mood. She laughed at him calling himself a trouble maker, she had heard many other words used to describe him, like man whore, slut, loose, easy, and her favorite, the guy who screwed with my girlfriend. Yep. They were like kindred spirits. She could see them as friends... with benefits. They were the best kind of friend

Hunter shook his head. "I only show the hiding places to people who intend to hide there with me. Now, if you want to hide there with me, then maybe I could show you a couple of places when we get back from the holidays." They danced for a while longer, but then Hunter had an idea. "Hey, do you want to go get a butterbeer and go outside for a bit?" OOC: Sorry it's so short. I've been catching up on all my 'class' RPs, and I think they're starting to catch up to me now...

"Mmmmhhh... I would enjoy hiding with you, among other things," she said smiling seductively. It was true. He was hot, and had a hot bod. Then she stood on her tip-toes and let her lips touch his. It wasn't so easy even in heels. She moved with him and the music. He was a good dancer, and you know what they say about good dancers. "Sure, I am absolutely parched," she said grinning.

After they said their hellos things got a little tongue-tied. George often talked too much but right now he wasn’t too sure what to say. George wasn’t shy but when you first met someone it was often a struggle trying to decide what to say. He didn’t want to start blabbering on about something totally random and boring the poor girl. She’d probably come to the Yule Ball to have fun not to be bored by some guy. While trying to decide what to say George sat quietly watching as the group of people dispersed into smaller groups. The confrontation was apparently coming to an end, which was probably good for the spirit of the ball. Rolling up the sleeves on his jacket George licked his lips and finally spoke.
”I’m George by the way, who might you be?” The introduction sounded a little too formal for his liking but it would have to do. It was better than sitting in silence with nothing to say. Rubbing a hand over the back of his neck George looked down at his suit. He hadn’t been too comfortable wearing a suit but he was starting to feel like James Bond. Of course he would never be James Bond or indeed anything like him but wearing a suit always reminded him of the character. That made him feel slightly more comfortable about the idea of wearing a suit. As a child his parents literally had to pin him down to get him into a suit now he would wear it even if he grumbled about it. Wearing casual clothes was a lot more comfortable hence the reason his suit was kept at the back of his wardrobe and only came out for very special occasions.
Yet again everything had gone quiet except for the music and murmur of conversation from the others around the room. George was still unsure of what he could do. He had thought about asking the girl to dance but right now he wasn’t in the mood. George could dance, to some extent but it wasn’t often that he showed his moves unless he was at a party. ”Would you like a drink?” George asked looking over at the refreshments table. Although he had drank two drinks already that evening he was still thirsty. Hopefully somebody hadn’t put something in the drink to make the students drink more of George would end up peeing like a racehorse. George would wait for an answer before going back over to the refreshments table.
[Sorry that its no where near as long as yours for some reason I have very little muse for George at the moment]

Brook sat there, not talking not making a word. She looked over to the cute guy and let a small smile cross her lips. But she looked away really fast because unlike some Brook was really shy, she looked back to the dance floor. Brook was looking for a reason to get up, not to get away from the nice guy just for something to do but like just for a drink and a little walk outside and the come back and do something, but because she didn't know him she kept her moth shut, not in a bad way just, ahhh god never mind (sorry i talk to myself).. Brook kept her eyes on the dance floor. I guess she was waiting for something to do or something to happen. Well right now Brook wasn't sure if the people were still arguing she wasn't keeping up with the argument. Brook looked to him when he spoke, once he was done she ran her hand through her hair pushing to the left. She took in a few breaths and then she started, "I'm Brook'' she smiled when she said her own name. But she smiled more looking to him, "But anyways, nice to meet you George." she said with a smile and looked at him, but yet again the shyness kicked in and she had to look away, she wasn't normally this shy. But she was shy but not this bad. Maybe it was because she was alround a really nice guy. But because she was talking now, and she knows his name so she may as well keep the conversation going. "well, what have you been up to, George" she asked looking at him with a smile. After she asked the guestion she turned her head back to the dance floor and watched the people going about, and because she couldn't be bothered reading the posts above, well she read Georges but that was it. She looked about and then she heard him speak, so she truned her attention from the dance floor back to George. When he was done speaking she smiled and looked away, "i'd like that" she said standing up and looked about, because she had moved her hair rolled across her face so she ran her hand through the blood locks a few times until they moved back and then she moved some left overs behind her ears. She put her hand down a little bit and a bit shyly and waited for him to take her hand, it was weird for her to do something like that but i guess she may as well. OOC - sorry this is a really bad reply.

Stretching forward George yawned as he watched the room. Turning to Brook he smiled repentantly ”That was a yawn of tiredness, not boredness” George didn’t want her thinking that she was boring him because she wasn’t. Hopefully they would become friends she seemed like a nice enough girl. Things were starting to quieten down now but everyone was still managing to have fun. Everyone also seemed to be making new acquaintances, which certainly wasn’t a bad thing. George needed to get out and make some new friends and that was part of the reason he had began speaking with Brooke.
He hated admitting but George didn’t really have that many friends but those friends that he did have were very important to him, especially Maeve and Moki. They were both hilarious and always fun to spend time with. ”Nice to meet you also Brook” Brook seemed a little shy but perhaps that was because George was always talking. He would approach a person and start talking to them like he had known them for years. It had gotten him a few minor punches and slaps over the years which he found quite hilarious considering he did nothing that would be perceived as offensive. You try and be friendly and you end up with a wallop in the face.
”Swimming in the lake, exploring the forest, going to class, lazing around and pretty much anything how about you” It was easy for George to just list the stuff than to give details on everything as that would probably be boring and take an age to tell Brook about it, not that she would want to know anyway. You would only find it interesting had you been there. ”Ok” George smiled happily as she said she would like a drink. Getting up from his seat George began walking but then paused and turned back to Brook. ”Would you like me to bring you a cup over or would you like to come?” It was always easier to ask than assume.

Brook sat watching the dance floor, things were changing and they were going back to normal with people dancing and all that and no one was arguing, much ? but it was better like this you got to hear the music (haha) okay that was a lie because Brook though it was funny watching the people out there, but it wouldn't of been funny from there view, it could of been important ? or maybe something else who know, well they do but thats another thing but now they had Brook talking to herself. So she turned her attention back to George.
As she turned to look at him she saw him yawn and then heard him speak saying he wasn't boredness, so that was good right ? She might be boring him because right now nothing was happening between them, friend wise, nothing more. She looked about the room and watched the dance floor a few more times with a small smile on her face, the smile just came out of no where. As she looked about she ran her hand through he hair a few times fixing it so it would go back, because right now it was annoying her, well the long blonde-random bits where anyways, or maybe she should just cut all her hair off and walk about bald that would actually be so funny, picture this. Brook walking about Hogwarts going from class to class or walking about the grounds or something but she had no hair she cut it all off. That would actually be funny. Maybe she should try that, or she should just keep her hair.
When he spoke back to her she smiled and watched him, but when she had looked at him for long enough she looked away again, she was thinking about a few things right now and one of them was 'if i keep looking away he might think he's borning me, or something else, oh my god, what should i do?' but as soon as she stoped thinking that she turned her head and attention back to him and tried to think of something to saw, a few things went through her head but were they the right things ? oohh well ones coming out anyways. "So, how've you been?" now she was talking to him as if she'd talked to him before like a million times before, because it wasn't in a voice saying i've just met him and all that it was like a friendly way, if you get me...
She looked away from him just to watch the dance floor she looked back to him and smiled slightly, "sorry i keep looking away!" she said with a smaller smile this time but he was like one of her friends now so he will hopefully notice that she wasn't getting bored with it or him for that matter, she just did it alot because it was an old habbit like someone people bite there nails by like Brook wasn't the kind to bite her nails she used to but not now, but she did have worse habbits but they aren't getting mentioned, well not right now anyways. She looked back to him and smiled, this is going to sound really weird but she still said it to make conversation "so tell me a bit about yourself." She smiled as she said it, hopefully his background would be interesting.
She looked at him as she told her what he's been up to, then he asked her what she had been up to. "Nothing much! ... Just studing and learning a few other thing's, walking about places and all that, just the same old stuff." she said looking at him, what she had been doing had been really borning if she may add, "I guess i was just waiting on the ball, like the night of it." she added a few seconds after she told him the stuff. When he asked her if he should bring her a cup over she looked away and then looked back right away. " am up now so i may as well coming with you, if you don't mind." she said with a smile and walked over to the table and got a little drink out herself and took a small sip and looked to him and smiled.

Eric walked back in to the Hall, glancing around. He didn't see Watson, he figured she was here, somewhere. He looked around, spotting Julia who was with that Hunter guy, who was a friend of Mike and Mike's girlfriend. Whatever, Eric didn't wish to associate himself with the guy, if he didn't have anything to worry about he would gladly go steal Julia away for a dance, but with all the crap going on tonight, it wasn't such a good idea. Glancing around he saw two Ravenclaws who looked to be his year at the refreshment table, what the hell is with all the Ravenclaws floating around? he thought to himself.
Walking over to the refreshment table, he picked up a glass of Butterbeer, downing it in one gulp. He set the glass down, he looked down the table to where the two Ravenclaws stood. One looked rather familiar, was his name Greg or something? Eh, who cares. The blond didn't look familiar, however. She was pretty cute... no he told himself, don't get yourself involved with anyone else for now. You already screwed up things with the three other girls. He sighed, and scanned the Great Hall once more for Watson.

Post by Leigh Benson on Feb 22, 2009 15:57:17 GMT -5
Leigh was not really sure why she decided to come to this thing. There were an awful lot of bittersweet memories associated with the Yule Ball. She had spent every one of the Yule Balls with Robert, her weak little a-hole of an ex-husband. So this would be her first one going alone. It was a bit depressing. She walked out of the hospital wing, where she was staying until she found a place to stay. It was only slightly awkward when people saw her morning hair. She had worked all day, trying to tell this little eleven-year old Gryffindor that she would not give her birth control, and that such a young girl should not be doing such things. She finally threatened to tell the girl’s parents and that pretty much stopped the little girl’s tirade. After the girl left she had very limited time to get ready for the Ball so she decided to leave her hair all-natural and let it go wherever it pleases. Thank God she had done it that morning.
She wore a low cut slinky little black dress that she basically wore to all fancy smancy events. She would have bought a new dress, but money was tight since she was going through a divorce. She was going to be a divorcee soon. How sad. But she has to look on the bright side, now she was free to play the field, find someone better, and find someone who would treat her right. Or maybe just find someone to help her get over…him… She didn’t even want to think his name. She wore red patent leather pumps. She felt pretty put together but not so much that it looked like she was trying too hard.
She entered the Great hall, it was gorgeous, just how she remembered, and the decorations were top notch as always. She remembered the year she and he-who-must-not-be-named, won Yule Ball King and Queen. That night he told her he loved her and told her that he wanted to be with her for the rest of his life, at that time she didn’t realize he meant her and whoever else caught his fancy. She frowned to herself, trying to keep herself from thinking of that dog, it wasn’t working.
Leigh turned her attention to the mass of dancing students, twirling, jumping and dipping each other, living out their most fantastical dreams and enjoying every minute they felt this way. She used to be these kids. What the hell had happened? Now she was a bitter old divorcee, well not old, but bitter definitely. She would give anything to be them again. All happy, sappy, and lovey dovey. It made her want to puke out her desperation.
Instead she decided to eat her pain. If she got fat then maybe she would finally have boobs and a guy wouldn’t go out looking for some Pamela Anderson like blonde with no brains and no shame. She headed over to the snack table and started to devour anything chocolate covered or deep fried. It wasn’t so flattering, but man did it feel good.

The Yule ball had slowly but surely slowed down quite a bit. The only thing that could really be heard was music and a slight buzz of conversation. Usually these events were lively but this term seemed to be a little different. Busy students probably wished to concentrate on schoolwork more than actually attending the ball. George would never dream of such a thing. Probably because he didn’t like schoolwork but then again he always found the Yule ball a little sappy. Of course that was his personal opinion and he had nothing against those that enjoyed the event. In a way he kind of wished that he enjoyed a lot more because it was supposedly the highlight of the school year.
Looking back to Brooke he smiled softly ”Yeah ive been alright thanks can’t say I can really complain” George had nothing to put him in a foul mood except for perhaps the schoolwork. He was normally quite cheerful and could rarely be found in a bad mood. He wasn’t overly cheerful though as he knew how annoying that could get. Hyper was good but sometimes people were so over the top that it became irritating. There was a fine line between it all and it was all too easy to become too happy or too sad. It all sounded a bit stupid but George knew what he was on about. ”How about you? How have you been?” Hopefully Brooke’s term had been good so far.
”Nah its fine I keep doing the same” Although people liked to remain eye contact when having a conversation George for some reason always struggled to do it. Even if he knew the person well he got freaked out a little. It was another one of those things that were hard to explain. At least Brooke didn’t seem to mind him looking away because she was doing just the same. ”A little about myself? Hm…” Some people could talk for hours about themselves but George always struggled to come up with a few facts about himself. It wasn’t exactly hard but he always tried to pick things that would be interesting but was then bothered if they weren’t.
Still unsure of what to say George just blabbered on a little bit. ”My full name is George Kaden Knox. I sometimes get called Georgie. Fifth year Ravenclaw. Fifteen years old. I have two older sisters who are twins and one older brother. I live in London with my family though we used to live in the south of England on a farm…” George trailed off a little wondering if his history was really all that interesting ”Um I like Magical and Muggle animals and I enjoy hanging out with mates. I really need to get myself a hobby…” He grinned tensely as he trailed off again. He’d probably bored the poor girl but she had asked to be told about him so that was what he did. If he’d missed anything out she could always ask him a couple of questions on anything that intrigued her as he would be happy to answer them.
”Now its your turn” George smiled as he waited for Brooke to tell him something about herself. George nodded ”I know what you mean about same old stuff” The school was huge but sometimes trying to find stuff always led to a dead end. George often tagged along with Maeve and Moki, as they never failed to amuse him. He was really glad that they had decided to speak to him, as they were probably his best friends in the school. ”I can’t say I am really that into the ball, it’s a tad too formal for me” Parties where he could wear jeans and a t-shirt were more his style. ”Sure thing” He smiled and continued walking over to the refreshments table where he too poured himself a drink.
