Amelia didn't let Kaylee's speech linger in her mind. True, magic wasn't meant for everything -- physical labour wasn't bad every now and then. But if you were a talented witch or wizard, in Amelia's book, there was nothing wrong with using magic to fix mistakes. Certain mistakes, anyway; there were certainly a few that magic might make worse, or by using magic, a true solution wouldn't be made. She finished the page she was writing and moved the parchment to the bottom of the stack, dipping her quill in the inkwell again --
And then Alfred Doohinger, in all his annoying, senile ways, came to her attention. She had realized he was seated beside her at first, but she didn't care -- he hadn't said anything to her the whole time, and she wasn't going to waste her time on this old fool. But now -- now, he was insulting her! "This dress is the closest thing to beauty you'll ever lay eyes on, Dunghinger," she remarked, nonchalantly putting the quill to the parchment and beginning a new subject. "I would advise you put that withered tongue back in its disgusting cavern before you find it hanging from my ceiling, along with my other prized possessions..."
She paused for a moment, casting him a sideways glance. "Looking aged as ever, I see. Have you done something with your wrinkles? They're especially shabby today!" Smiling in spite of herself, she took another bite of spaghetti and continued writing yet again.

((OMG i totally just learned the word comeuppance today, what a cowinkydink)) Blahhh. School functions were kinda lame. She had never had much school spirit or loyalty. she didn't understand how one could be loyal to a bunch of stone and glass. but she didn't really get loyalty really. People will always use you, so you use them first. Julia sat at the ravenclaw table not socializing or anything, she was in a crummy mood. Her mother wrote her asking if she could possibly meet somewhere and talk. Whatever she wasn't worth talking to. So she wrote back and said no way jose. She had enough drama in her life.
She wasn't eating. this food didn't look edible or vegetarian. She liked animals much more than humans. Then she saw Mike walk in, they had had a pretty good talk, and most guys didn't want to just talk to her. He sat down a few people down. Julia craned her neck to see his face. Maybe having a friend who is a boy wouldn't be so bad, he might have hot friends to. Heck having any friends at this school would be good. "Hey Mikey, Enjoying this lovely dinner?" she said scowling at her empty plate, she had some veggie burgers back in her dorm.

Mike looked around when he heard his name, then he saw Julia. "Yeah, starving, so anything to eat is good with me considering I had nothing to eat today." his plate cleaned after his first round of food, seeing as he was sitting between a third year and second year who were annoying the hell out of him, he slid back from the spot, and moved in to the spot, next to Julia. "Hope you don't mind," he shrugged. "Those two kids were making me want to go insane and kill someone with their talk of Quidditch and obsessing over the fact that I'm the Captain this year." he said smirking and scowling at the same time, shaking his head as he looked down at the two younger year kids.

A sigh escaped from between Katelynn's thin lips. It didn't seem like Dante was going to join her after all. Maybe he was pissed at her for leaving so suddenly a couple weeks ago. Or perhaps he was finally coming to his senses and leaving her for better, more appropriate friends. Absentmindedly, she moved the stew around on her plate, her eyes staring at the food but not really seeing it. Well, she would have to get over it, wouldn't she? Moving on was a part of life. Something she had hoped not to experience with Dante, but, alas, some things had to happen, she supposed.
Suddenly, there was his voice. His voice. Her heart had completely taken over -- there was no brain or logic or coolness left in her. As if taking the form of an immature first year, she snapped her neck and looked in his direction, nothing less than eagerness on her face. Under any normal circumstances, she would have replied with some random sarcastic remark, and continued to make them throughout the entire night until bedtime. But no, this wasn't a normal circumstance. And unfortunately, she wasn't going to act normally.
"Danny!" she cried, throwing her arms around the boys' neck and hugging him tighter than she had ever hugged anyone before. "I was ... worried, I thought maybe ... never mind!" She stopped herself before she could say anything too much resembling an imbecile. That was pretty much the only thing she had half-control over, her mouth. Katelynn hugged him for several more moments, before finally letting him go. Just then, she realized how stupid she was being, and how stupid he most likely thought her to be. She was acting as though he had come back from the dead, or something ... Silly, silly Katelynn.
"Oh, I'm fine, just sort of ... wet," she finished lamely. Her blue eyes scanned over him, observing that for some odd reason he wasn't as wet. Oh right. The whole "magic" thing. She didn't even think of drying herself off that way. Now feeling totally ridiculous, she refrained from using one of the charms right then and there. The Slytherin had already acted like a complete idiot; need she embarrass herself more? "What about you? I didn't see you on the train ..." Katelynn trailed off. She didn't want to come across as clingy or anything. But, to be honest, she sort of was. Not like she would ever tell anyone who asked.

"WOOOOO RAVENCLAW FOR THE WIN!"
The man sitting next to her shouted before sitting down. Dinah had heard his name before he had stood up. Feeling better she couldn't help but let a smile escape. It was so much fun sitting next to a buffoon, your own manners would look exemplary no matter what you did.
"Helloooo! My name is Thomas Middleton, what's yours?"
Oh dear, he was speaking to her. Dinah remembered her vow to make people like her here and forced a smile. "Mine is Dinah Mills." She stopped for a second searching for something to say, small talk was not her forte. "I err, teach Care of Magical Creatures and Herbology. What do you teach?"
Before he could answer a few seats away a hullabaloo broke out. It was between Kaylee, the woman introduced as Amelia, and an old man who Dinah vaguely remembered was Alfred Dungslinger or Dungfinger something like that anyways. Dinah had to stifle a laugh. For her that was strange as even others' misfortune did not usually amuse her. Her amusements were solely intellectual.
As the argument continued, Dinah could feel herself relaxing involuntarily and the smile she turned to Thomas was practically natural and brought a blush of color to her normal marble complexion. "Ahh, back at Hogwarts." She nodded in the direction of the squabbling teachers. "Now where were we?"

Life is hard when you are a vegetarian. "Why didn't you eat, Were you busy dreaming of me," she said wrinkling her nose. She scooted over to allow more room for him. "I don't mind a bit," she said happily, she instantly perked up when he was around, but he was off-limits, Friends only. She didn't want to screw that up. "So how is your girlfriend, is she here? I wanna see my competition," she said smiling. "Yeah kids are annoying, thank goodness I am an only child," she said staring at all the chickens and cows laid out in front of her.

Mike laughed, "As for Audrey, she's fine. I actually haven't seen her in a few days, she has probably been hanging out wit her friends, and getting ready for the term and all. I don't see her here right now, but she's probably somewhere at the Gryffindor Table." he said, glancing over his shoulder at the table. He watched the same two kids who he had been sitting by before, they were still talking, Mike shook his head smirking. "They never shutup, do they?" he muttered, so only Julia could hear him, adding in a laugh.

"Awww... Trouble in paradise, what a shame," She said smiling. "Well if she's not here there is nothing stopping us from having some fun," she said eyeing him mischievously. "I have to tell you something, I like guys with power, they make me purr," she said attempting to purr at him, it mostly came out as a giggling. She looked in his eyes again, bad idea. Darn those stupid brown spheres of desire. That was deep. "Their kids, what do you expect.

Mike laughed as her purr turned in to a giggle. "What's so funny?" he said with a half grin. He looked away from her for a minute and watched the table where all the staff sat. He smirked, watching each teacher, looks like they were having their share of laughs and annoyances at each other. He turned his attention back to the two younger students as Julia said about them being kids. "Well I can say one thing, I don't think I was ever that annoying when I was their age." he said laughing.

"I think I might have gone a little overboard with that one," she said laughing, "Animal noises are a little out of my realm." Suddenly she saw a salad. "Eeeep!" she squealed as she grabbed for it, Salads were her savior. She heaped a bunch of green lettuce on her plate and searched for some dressing. "So, If we are going to be like BFFs we need to have some ground rules, right. no getting all sappy, and no meaningful cards or gestures," she said happily. "I wasn't either but I understand, they feel like your famous, people like famous people, " she said. She finally found some salad dressing and dished it out on the leafy greens. She then proceeded in stuffing her face.

"I can see that. By the whole purr turning in to a giggle, doesn't look like you have much skill with that." he said laughing. As he listened to her ground rules, he smirked, "Sounds good to me." he said nodding, laughing a little bit as well. "Feel like I'm famous? I thought I was." he said smirking, this statement of his reminded him of the first day he and Julia had met with the whole cockiness conversation. He watched as she eagerly pulled a salad towards herself, he was going to get another plate of chicken, but felt bad with her right there, knowing she was a vegetarian. He knew he was breaking the no sappy gesture thing, but hell, she didn't know that. He grabbed an apple from one the bowls, he already had eaten enough anyways.

Audrey Hitchcock sat beside her best guy friend Hunter at the Gryffindor table. The introductions and speeches went on so long she had started dozing off on Hunter's shoulder, which was still damp from the rain outside. Audrey had offered to dry his clothes out, like she had done to hers, but he said something about liking the wetness...whatever.
The Headmaster did his little clappy thing and the food started appearing before her green eyes. Audrey hadn't eaten anything today, what with being busy with trying to get everyone settled in to the Gryffindor Girl's dorm. She mulled everything that had happened during the past few days over in her head, including the lack of Mike-time. She felt the pit of her stomach drop a few inches. It wasn't like she was intentionally avoiding him. Things just got crazy really fast and then she had to help out with the girls coming back. Plus he had to start training for Quidditch, so it wasn't like it was all her fault. With all her thoughts focusing on Mike, it wasn't any surprise that her head turned reflexively towards the Ravenclaw table, searching for him.
When she found him, her heart thudded a little harder. Then she saw who he was sitting beside. Her heart stopped altogether. She didn't know why, she had no idea what their relationship was, but it made her nervous. The recent Riley incident probably had something to do with that. She practically stared holes through Mike's head before turning back to her food and stabbing it with a fork. She had half a mind to walk over to the Ravenclaw table and sit between them. And only half of the reason was because of the girl. She really missed Mike. But, he did need his own friends. She was friends with Hunter and it was completely platonic. Why couldn't Mike be capable of platonic friendships too?
Audrey looked at Hunter. He was busy swallowing what looked like the entire back half of a small elephant, so she decided not to interrupt him. The girl took a small bite of her roast, really not hungry anymore. Grabbing her goblet of pumpkin juice, she rotated her body towards the Ravenclam table again, staring at Mike. That's all she would do for now, she decided. She would only watch. They would talk tomorrow. Or sooner, if it's necessary, she told herself. She knew enough about the castle to get through the halls without Dungslinger finding her.

Julia got the strangest feeling that she was being watched. She turned around to see if she could find the perpetrator, but no such luck, there were far to many people around to find one person in the sea of faces. What if it was that Audrey girl, the one Mike is dating? Usually she would ham it up and whisper sweet nothings in his ear, but Mike was a friend, nothing more, even if he looked like he would be a great kisser. No stop thinking like that. So Julia simply scooted a bit further from Mike, she idn't want to piss off a girl she didn't even know, she could be in the mafia.
"Haven't had much practice, ussually I have a guy at my mercy by now, but you are different, loyal and shit, If I were into the whole dating thing I would have a lot of respect for you. It's gotta be hard to resist me, I almost feel sorry for you" she said grinning from ear to ear. She stuffed her face somemore until her plate was clean. "I am pretty famous around these parts myself" she stated, not elaborating further. What he didn't know wouldn't hurt him. "So what is your girlfriend like, nice, funny, angry, bitter... good girl.... bad girl..... I need to know whether to consult Cosmo or Seventeen," she said with a chuckle. She cracked herself up.

Mike finished the apple, core and all. There were some people who were like that. Though most people threw the core away. Mike use to be like that, but he figured it'd be better than wasting the rest. He rubbed his face with both hands. Exhaustion beginning to overtake him. He glanced down the Ravenclaw table, scanning all the different Ravenclaws, spotting a few familiar faces. Everyone seemed to be busy with their own thing, interested in their own conversations. Another feeling overtook back, insecureness. He felt someone watching him, it was the exact feeling he had the day he met Riley. He always got this feeling. He scanned the Hufflepuff table which was a row over that was infront of him. The other two tables, Gryffindor and Slytherin, behind. He brought his attention back to the Julia when he noticed her moving a little away from him. He didn't say anything, figuring she had a good reason.
"Haven't had much practice, ussually I have a guy at my mercy by now, but you are different, loyal and shit, If I were into the whole dating thing I would have a lot of respect for you. It's gotta be hard to resist me, I almost feel sorry for you"
"You know. To be totally honest with you, I suppose it is hard to resist." he said smirking a little, "But the fact that Audrey is my girlfriend and I love her alot, that's what makes it easier to stay strong. Otherwise, I probably would have thrown myself at your mercy the minute I met you." he said laughing. The feeling of being watched had not gone away, when Julia questioned him about Audrey, his mind spun a little. Audrey could she be the one watching me? I didn't even see her before. "Audrey, she's nice, nicest girl you'll ever meet, well she's as nice as you." he said smirking, realizing what he had started to say might make things awkward. "She's funny as well, amazing personality," he said, "One of the things that made me fall for her I guess. She's good, but can get mischievious at times. Which is another great quality among girls, in my opinion." Mike said, sort of nodding towards Julia, referring that Julia and Audrey both were mischievious. As he finished, he casually glanced over his shoulder, he let his eyes sort of scan from the Teacher's table, to the Slytherin table, he scanned one or two faces, to the Gryffindor table. Right beside Hunter, was Audrey. He didn't let his eyes linger too much on her. He didn't want her to think he was looking for her just to make sure she wasn't around, that wasn't the reason at all. He turned his head back to his own table, "She is here." he said to Julia quietly. "I'll be back." he muttered. Pushing himself up slowly, he was planning to go to the Gryffindor Table. He knew the many questions Audrey probably had.

Audrey continued to watch, half amused, half offended. It wasn't until Mike looked at her and just conitinued his casual sweep without the slightest of hints of acknowledgements that Audrey started to get really irritated. She swung back the way she was supposed to be sitting and slammed her goblet on the table. She shook her head and wrapped her arms around her middle. This was not going to be like last time. Mike was not Axel. No matter how many times she told herself that, she would always be waiting for the other shoe to drop, for Mike to do something horrible. Like leaving me with nothing and no one...
Despite her anger and frustration, not only with Mike, but with herself she allowed herself one more peek over her shoulder.
Pushing himself up slowly, he was planning to go to the Gryffindor Table. He knew the many questions Audrey probably had.
The redhead fought to calm herself down. She closed her eyes and relaxed on muscle at a time. starting with her hands, which had involuntarily clenched into fists. Audrey had relaxed every muscle other than her jaw before she sensed Mike's closeness. Oh well, she thought. He can wait. She forced herself to re-relax most of the muscles in her body since her lapse in concetration had allowed some of the tension to creep back into her body. She knew she had to handle this situation better than the whole Riley ordeal. She wouldn't let herself go galavanting around making out with Mike simply because she was threatened by some random girl she had never even met before. That really wasn't what Audrey was about, at all.
Once Audrey was sure that she had control over every part of her bosy, including her hormones and emotions, she turned to face Mike. "Yo." Well that was super cool, Audrey thought. Way to kick it back about 40 years....
