Age: 11
Height: 4'9"
Wand: 9 3/4" Holly with a Veela hair core
Appearance: Her hair is a burnished red with golden hints. Her eyes are greenish-blue. They mainly change colors with her mood. She has pale skin that doesn't freckle. She will most likely be a beautiful adult but right now she is mainly gangly limbs and red hair.
Personality: Maeve is a quick tempered, bold, daring person. With her quicksilver tongue she is most often in trouble than out of it. If confronted with someone being unfair most of the school will hear her hot temper explode. She can be a lifelong friend or a llife long enemy. Even though she has a lightning quick temper, if she finds she is in the wrong she will be the first to apologize and try to make it up to whomever she did wrong.
History:
Maeve was born to two Muggle parents in Carlingford, Ireland. She is the youngest of three. Her older sister and brother had no signs of magical power. When their little sister began to do strange things they were confused and scared. Their parents were rather scared too. They tried to keep her away from people even homeschooling her. The whole family was afraid to tell a doctor for fear they would take their daughter and try to dissect her.
One day when Maeve was six she was outside in her yard playing with a ball. As it bounced high in the air she laughed as it stopped and hovered above her head. A local man stopped outside her yard and with a grave look on his face came to find her parents. Her parents were terrified that he would tell the government. He explain, kindly, that he was a wizard just as their daughter was a witch. After a few disbelieving questions the whole family began to relax. Their daughter wasn't a 'freak', she was part of a community that for safety and sanity's sake kept below the radar.
This was the beginning of a long relationship between Maeve and the Wizarding world. Unlike most Muggle children she'd had the good fortune of being born in a Wizarding community. With this early exposure to the Wizarding world she had a distinct advantage over other Muggle-borns. Also though she didn't have any experience with people who dislike Mudbloods. Apparently no Slytherins settled in Carlingford.
As such, it was no surprise when Maeve received her letter for Hogwarts. She loved the idea of casting spells and couldn't wait to get her wand. Her parents didn't expect her to get high marks as she was an average student but they did expect her to do her best. Her older sister and brother, Caryn and Lee, were happy for her but they didn't understand why she was so obsessed with magic. In their minds being Muggle was much safer and they could do pretty much the same things with technology.
So it was with a light heart and much anticipation that Maeve left for Hogwarts.
