Having got her office situated the way she wanted it Dinah decided to take her latest creation out for a test spin. She had been trying to graft a Snargaluff stump to a Devil's Snare. Honestly, she was rather intrigued if it would work. Her intention, other than just to see if she could, was to see if she could make a plant that would protect any building from unwanted visitors.
She intended to attempt this out in the Forest so that, hopefully, no one could accidentally stumble into her experiment.
Dinah struggled through a small gap in the thick forest trying to find a clearing where she could throw things at the stump without getting too close. She was glad that she had decided to twist up her long tresses into a scholarly knot. Her clothes were likewise practical, eschewing robes which would have made it impossible to walk in the Forest, Dinah wore a pair of black jeans and a gray short sleeved shirt. It was perhaps a bit warm but she was more worried about the branches and bushes scratching her than about heat. Besides it was much cooler here in the depths of the Forbidden Forest.
Finally! Dinah spotted a clearing. Pulling out a bag that she had placed an Undetectable Extension Charm on Dinah pulled out a tiny stump that looked no bigger than a chihuahua. Here in the dark forest she placed the stump on the ground.
Immediately it began thrashing and jumping as spiny tentacles reached for her. Jumping back Dinah was able to avoid the tentacles. Just as suddenly as it had come awake the stump closed back up, looking innocent.
Dinah picked up a stick and threw it at the stump, as it came toward the stump, the tentacles reached out and attempted to strangle the stick before hauling it back to the open maw of the stump and closing.
"Hmm, still lethal..." Dinah scribbled some notes into her notebook. "I'll have to work on that."
Dinah was so engrossed in her experiment that she didn't hear the footsteps approaching her clearing through the brush.
