Her hair is a long lustrous black, one of the few luxuries she allows herself. Eyes of cold grey, rarely warm up when she looks at anyone. Usually they are cold and distant in thought but sometimes they can be an icy grey with rage if someone crosses her too far. With her pale skin and soft mouth she looks as if she could be beautiful. However, her remoteness makes it impossible for true beauty.
Dinah is a dedicated teacher who loves to teach what she knows. Her life is dedicated to learning all that she can and experience even more. A brilliant witch of extraordinary talent, Dinah loves to experiment. Her experimentations have gotten her in trouble with the Ministry a number of times as not everything she is interested in is completely legal.
Even though she is a brilliant witch her major flaw lies in her emotions. She is very cold and distant. Even though she will help her students with classroom problems she has never seemed to be able to connect with anyone on a personal level. Occasionally she will feel a flash of regret but will immediately immerse herself in her studies to drown that feeling.
Her parents died when she was very young and since there were no close wizarding relations to claim her Dinah was sent to a Muggle foster home. Due to her strange behavior young Dinah was moved from foster home to foster home never able to form an attachment to anyone and unable to explain why she was so strange. She lived in the midst of London until she was eleven at which point she was accepted to Hogwarts. Not having much money she studied hard to earn scholarships to be able to stay at Hogwarts and continue her magical education. Her old house was Ravenclaw, which suited her very well.
Now at 23, Dinah is back from a turbulent time hoping to gain a position at Hogwarts. Her promising career had been cut short when one of her experiments grew wings unexpectedly and took out half of a Muggle business block. Even though no one was killed and hardly anyone injured Dinah had been forbidden to continue her magical experiments in the City.
Dinah approached Hogwarts realizing that teaching was important to her now. Why would it matter if she learned all these brilliant things if she wasn't able to share them? They would just die with her.
Along with these hopes to pass on her knowledge before it faded was the hope that Hogwarts would allow her to continue her magical experiments if she could provide a safe place.
