OOC RULES ;
(these are the rules to follow out of character, all right? all right.)
(these are the rules to follow out of character, all right? all right.)
1. read the rules. you've started so you might as well continue, yes? yes. failure to follow the rules will not be tolerated. it's your own fault if you didn't read them or understand them. if you have any questions about any of them, do not hesitate to ask. we won't bite ... much. x]
2. pay attention to the plot. sure, something may not be happening now, but that doesn't mean it'll stay that way. things change in the real world when it comes to what's happening, and things can always happen here, too. the world can't stay quiet for too long.
3. respect the admins! and while you're at it, respect your fellow roleplayers! people here come from all walks of life, but that shouldn't mean you treat someone else differently than everyone else. as for us, you better pay us some respect. fo rizzle. because we're the reason this hurr site exists and looks so pretty. plus, we can ban you. which isn't nice.
4. wait until you are sorted to post anywhere onsite. please and thank you. it'll avoid confusion. and annoyingness.
5. don't delete your character! not as if we can really stop this, but we would all prefer if you didn't. pretty sure it's annoying to people other than us to see "harrypotterfreak101" posting around everywhere.
6. no mary-sues or gary-stus, all right? huuuuuge no-no. for real. that is beyond irritating. we will all punch you.
7. drinking, sexual conduct, drugs, and cussing are allowed -- to an extent. please, not in every single thread, and not every single word. it offends people, so if something naughty is going to be going on, don't forget to put a warning in the title. (sam would also like to add that anyone who cusses constantly will be devoured by him.)
8. no fighting in the ooc area. pretty self-explanatory, yes?
9. as of this point in time, you must take and pass at LEAST three classes. it doesn't matter which ones, just participate. classes are meant to be a good roleplaying exercise, so please, do your best to attend them. unless, of course, you wanna stay in one year for forever. which is totally understandable.
10. do not steal somebody else's celebrity. or play-by, or faceclaim, whatever you want to call it. it's like stealing someone's identity. which you shouldn't do under any circumstances.
11. keep everything in the c-box appropriate. it is a privelege, not a necessity. if you abuse it, it will be taken away.
12. power-playing and godmoding are absolutely, positively against the law and you will be eaten mercilessly if you do this. power-playing and godmoding involve being invincible and "controlling" another character's actions. this is unfair and you will be warned if you do this (and possibly banned). please, don't do this.
13. absolutely no one-liners -- and don't take that literally. incredibly short posts are no fun, and it gets really annoying for alot of people. take Sam, for instance: post a one-liner, and you can almost guarantee that your soul will be swallowed whole.
14. DO NOT ASK ABOUT PREFECTS! for starters, there will be no prefects for term one; the admins must decide from activity, helpfulness, prefect-worthiness, et cetera. if you ask about prefects, Sam will eat you -- WHOLE! it is up to us who the prefects are, and if you pester us about them, we will get really mad and, chances are, you won't get prefect because of that.
IC RULES ; *
(these are the rules to follow in character, all right? all right.)
(these are the rules to follow in character, all right? all right.)
1. Do nooot go into the restricted section! It's password-protected, so if you get in there and are not a seventh year or have permission from an admin, then you can say hello to a nice little detention.
2. Don't intrude in other House dormitories! You have one for your own House, so don't go getting selfish. They are all password-protected, so you'll get it as soon as you're sorted into your House. All right? All right. Oh, and don't go blabbing it to everyone. Please and thank you.
3. Forbidden Forest is still off-limits, so try to be sneaky. You never know what can be lurking there.
*By all means, feel free to disobey these rules! Especially if it is something your character would do. I just felt it was needed to make the boundaries clear. One thing that will not be accepted when it comes to these rules? Blabbing it around on the OOC board. Do that to any of the passwords you have been priveleged with, and hello warning bar! In-Character, however, is fine, as long as it's limited. If your character is a push-over who is constantly getting bullied, then yeah, it'd be acceptable to tell a bully the password to your house. But don't go telling everyone. It's immature and unnecessary.
