The greenhouse was warm and stifling. Even though the weather had started to cool down the greenhouse hadn't. The air was thick with the moisture from the plants. It felt like walking into a jungle. they were still meeting in Greenhouse One and Dinah had planned something hopefully a little more fun today.
She had given the students a bit of a break on their homework last class and she hoped they would have it today. If not, it was still the start of the term and she wasn't ready to hand in her grades yet anyways.
She finished adjusting the four large pots at the front of her classroom and waited for the students to file in. Each of the pots held a different plant. In one a Fanged Geranium was snapping wildly at a fly buzzing around it's flower. The second plant sat dully, figs swelling and shrinking on its limbs, an Abyssinian Shrivelfig. The third and fourth plant were Futterby bushes and they quivered and shook happily in the warmth of the greenhouse. Gazing lovingly at her plants Dinah looked softer and more approachable than usual.
She also had a surprise for the best student of today's class. If they could answer her question not only did they get ten points for their house but they also got a prize.
As the students filed in and sat down on their stools Dinah turned to them, all business now. There was very little whispering in her classes since she was usually at the greenhouse when the students arrived.
"Thank you class. Settle down now." Dinah waited for them to get ready. "Today is an interactive class. No notes today unless you want. Before we get into class, I have a question for you." Dinah lifted a handfull of large fat pink seed pods. Dropping one onto the floor it burst into a riot of beautiful flowers. "Do any of you know what this seed pod is called? I will give you a hint, it begins with the letter 'P'."
((we will get into the rest of the class once everyone has posted coming into class and someone has answered the question))
