Mike Blaze, a Ravenclaw sixth year walked into the Great Hall, he stood in the doorway and scanned the whole Great Hall, from the Slytherin Table, along the next two tables all the way to the Gryffindor's Table, he then glanced up at the table where the teachers sat, he walked in and sat at the Ravenclaw table, not touching any of the food at first, he glanced around for anyone he knew, he leaned back, stretched his back, and ran hand through his brown hair. He was not very hungry, he poured some water and tipped the glass and let some of it touch his lips, hoping to show an excuse for why he was in the hall. Truthfully, he didn't know himself, he was just very bored.

Audrey Hitchcock, a Gryffindor 6th year, looked up from the book she was reading at the Gryffindor table. Her wavy red hair hung over the right side of her face, partially obstructing her view. When she pushed her hair behind her ear, she could see Mike. Since there wasn't anyone else in the Great Hall that she knew or felt like getting to know she walked over. She sat on the bench beside Mike backwards, with her back against the table, and crossed her legs. "Hey stranger," She hadn't seen Mike all summer, and he was one of her only friends left at Hogwarts. "Are you not hungry or something?" She reached across his chest, grabbed a piece of bread, and started nibbling.

"Not really, only came here because there is nothing much of anything else to do." he said shrugging. He surveyed the Great Hall once more, still no one, besides Audrey. "But hey, atleast you're here now." he said looking back at her. "How was your summer?" Mike felt almost guilty, he had mentioned to Audrey before 5th year had ended last school year that he'd try to make plans for them to hang out, but nothing had worked out. As she leaned across him he glanced at her as she pulled back to her spot with a piece of bread, he had forgotten how beautiful she had always been. "So.... I know I have a couple of classes with Gryffindors, are you in any of them by any chance?" he said, hoping he'd know for sure that he had atleast one true friend with him.
OOC: Thought I'd add a lil twist in there... Idk, bored. =P

OOC: Well if you hadn't I would've.
IC: "Well..." She said, taking a bite of her bread. "You know, it was summer. I don't live around very many wizards, so I didn't have anyone to talk to about," she motioned to the Great Hall, "all of this, but it was ok, I guess." Audrey really looked at Mike for the first time in a long time. He had grown up over the summer a bit, but she supposed that was bound to happen at their age. "So what happened to hanging out this summer, eh?" He really was quite cute. Wait...what? She'd never looked at Mike like that. Or anyone else, for that matter, except for Axel.
So.... I know I have a couple of classes with Gryffindors, are you in any of them by any chance?
"Hmmm...I don't know." Her red hair had fallen in her face again, creating a firey curtain between them. "I suppose we'll find out soon enough." She looked back up at him, pushing her hair behind her ear. She just looked at him for a second, what had he done this summer that made him change? "How was your summer?"

"My summer was alright, boring, I guess. Not many wizards around my area, a few, but they're either my parent's age or older, or they attend Durmstrang or some other wizarding school, which, those types of people stick to their own friends from that school, as do I." Mike said. His thoughts began wondering what his summer would've been like if he hadn't been such an idiot and forgot to make plans with Audrey. "And yeah about the summer, some things turned up and I totally forgot about making those plans. But, I gotta tell you, hanging out with would've been alot better than anything I did." he said grinning. "The only real wizards and witches I was with this summer, was my parents and my sisters, and when I use the term witches about my sisters, I don't mean the magical type." he said smirking, "Also managed to get a small job at the Auror office, thanks to my father. He called it an intern, but it was not even that. My days were filled with stacking papers, filing through different files of wanted wizards, and I must say, the most enjoyable part of it all, was being demanded to make coffee for all the aurors every half hour or so." he added with a half laugh. Mike's thoughts turned from his family back to Audrey. His heart pounded a little. He had never had a true girlfriend, the closest thing probably was Audrey. The sun light that poured in from the ceiling of the Great Hall reflecting on Audrey's hair made her look more pretty at that moment, before he could stop himself, his thoughts sort of formed into words out of his month, "Audrey, I just have to say, you look really beautiful." He turned his head to fake a cough while his eyes widened, not believing he had just said that, it was true, but he didn't want to say it out loud. He blinked a couple of times, and turned back to her, trying to avert his eyes from hers, but failed. He looked away a couple of times hoping to save himself embarrasement.

Also managed to get a small job at the Auror office...
An office job? Really? Hmmph. "Yeah, I bet that working as a secretary did suck up most of your summer." Audrey smiled jokingly, wishing that she could stop her imagination from dreaming up images of Mike working on a farm somewhere. It really wasn't helping her coherency level. Audrey sighed and laughed in all the right places of his story. That is until...
Audrey, I just have to say, you look really beautiful.
Audrey dropped her piece of bread, and the bite that she had just swallowed stuck in her throat. Huh? Did he really just say that? No. No...he couldn't have. I'm imagining things...this is getting out of hand. Her head and heart were racing. Thoughts were reeling through her brain, and in all the chaos, she was taking much to long to answer his compliment.
Finally, after a few more seconds of blankly staring at Mike, she managed to calm her thoughts into a more traceable pattern and swallow the suddenly dry bread that had caught in her esophogus. Her heart, on the other hand, was still beating irratically.
The girl averted her eyes. "Thank you." Her voice sounded a little rough, but she sounded calm enough. "You look nice. too." Audrey lifted her gaze, hoping to find a look that wasn't incredulous and mocking. What in the world am I doing?

OOC: Might as well try to get in the swing of using italics for thoughts, it's what most people seem to be doing.
Mike breathed a small sigh of relief, but hoped she hadn't seen it for what it really was, and rather took it as just a breath. "You look nice. Too." he hoped she felt the same way he did, but he figured he wouldn't ask her. "Soo.... uh... have any idea what you want to do after you graduate from Hogwarts?" he asked, hoping maybe they could turn the conversation from what just happened, for now.

Soo.... uh... have any idea what you want to do after you graduate from Hogwarts?
Audrey was grateful for the change of subject. This, at least was less awkward, if more mundane. "I was thinking of teaching something, though I don't know what I would teach. Or maybe something in the minitry. Who knows. Maybe I'll just work in my mom's bakery." Audrey's smile widened, and she sat up straighter. "Then there's always that childhood fantasy of being an Auror." Audrey took a second to really imagine herself as an Auror, something she hadn't done since she was a second year. "Probably the ministry or the bakery. What about you?"
Audrey tried not to imagine what it would be like to be with Mike. What it would be like to hold his hand. What it would be like to kiss him. What it would be like to....Stop that, she told her brain. That's not nice. Nevertheless, the images kept creeping into her thoughts and one in particular sent a shiver through her thin body. Audrey hoped Mike would assume it was a chill, though she doubted he would, considering the warmth of the Great Hall.

"Then there's always that childhood fantasy of being an Auror."
Mike's thoughts quickly snapped back to reality. "An auror?" he said suddenly interested, "As you know my father is an auror, he's always wanted me to be one. I have always dreamed of being an auror. Since I was about nine years old. Some day, I'm going to become an auror, hell, even head of the auror office." Mike said with a grin. He almost couldn't believe she had mentioned this. Mike always knew him and Audrey had some things in common, but this dream to be an auror was just crazy.
While Audrey's thoughts kept flashing about what it would be like to be with Mike, of course Mike didn't know this, his own thoughts were doing the same thing. Now he had an image, husband and wife, auror and head of the auror office. He put his two hands to his head squeezing a little bit, almost as if trying to knock the image out of his head. But at this point he couldn't. He had always had a small crush on Audrey, but right now, the crush was becoming bigger, he had to find out if she liked him the way he felt about her. "Audrey, do you want to maybe go for a walk or something, maybe upstairs and around the halls?" That was his only thought of a good place at this point.

Audrey smiled even bigger, if it was possible, when she saw Mike's interest was sparked. Her head swam with similar thoughts of the would-be couple as Aurors. What with the swarming thoughts, the oddly gymnastic sensations in her stomach, and the pounding of her heart, it was becoming more and more difficult for Audrey to comprehend what Mike was saying.
Audrey, do you want to maybe go for a walk or something, maybe upstairs and around the halls?
The girl's smile abruptly fell and her stomach fell through a mysterious hole in the floor. Uh oh. :Errmm...sure?" She had meant it to sound definitive, but the new nervousness made it more of a question than she had intended.
Audrey stood and looked at Mike. "Where to?" A faint smile played at the corner's of her mouth. She wasn't sure where they were headed. Physically or otherwise.

Mike got up from the table. "I was thinking, I don't know, upstairs, or even, as it's sunny out, outside? Just for a walk, to talk and all. Right about now I'd rather be outside than in here. Did you have anywhere in mind where we could go?" he asked, offering his hand to help her up from the table. "You know, to talk and catch up some more from over the summer and such." he added.

Offering his hand to help her up from the table...
Audrey took his hand and enjoyed the warmth of the touch, just for a second. She must be having an attack of some sort, she decided.
Did you have anywhere in mind where we could go?
She thought that over for a moment, walking towards the doors of the Great Hall, still holding Mike's hand. "What about the Quidditch Pitch? It should be pretty much a Ghost Town. The teams don't start try-outs 'til next week." Audrey headed in that direction, not letting go of his hand, and also abestmindedly hoping her hand wasn't clammy. Clammy hands weren't very cute.

Mike walked beside her, he was glad she didn't let go of his hand, if she had tried, he probably wouldn't of let her. "Alright, the Qudditch Pitch sounds good." Mike said, also glad to have a chance to go to the pitch for the first time this year. He had been on the Ravenclaw team in past years and hope he'd make it this year, he was also considering puting in his name for Ravenclaw team captain. All the Ravenclaws in past years had look up to him, even though he wasn't team captain, he was an amazing Beater and hoped his Professor Middleton, his Head of House might consider making him the team captain this year. He came back into reality once again and almost thought he hadn't, he thought he was still daydreaming, him walking beside Audrey, her hand in his and his in hers? Then he realised it wasn't a dream. Now he didn't want to wait until they got to the Pitch, he needed to know what she thought of him. He stopped walking and turned to her, "Audrey, I've been thinking about this all day, and honestly... we've been friends since our first year. I know you had Axel before and now he's gone, so I don't know how you're feeling right now. But, honestly, I want to be more than friends with you. If you know what i mean, you're my best friend at Hogwarts, for the past five years I've loved and cared for you like a sister. Now, it's alot more...." he took a deep breath, his heart pounding hard, he swallowed, his adam's apple also thumping a little as his throat was dry. "Would you be my girlfriend?" he closed his eyes looking down, so she didn't feel like she had to be pressured to answer. But he hoped she would say yes, if she said no, he was totally fine. Either way he had to ask this.
OOC: Beaters are the guys that get the bludgers, right? I haven't read a HP book in a while and forgot. >.>

OOC: Yes...Beaters are the ones who....beat...the bludgers.
IC: Audrey was surprised at how right it felt to be holding hands with Mike. She smiled at the thought of him not letting go of her hand.
Audrey, I've been thinking about this all day...
Audrey's irregular pulse skipped two beats. Oh no...
Would you be my girlfriend?
Hyperventalating would not be a wise choice, she decided. Did he really just ask me out? She blinked a couple of times and waiting for the punch line. When it didn't come, she decided he was serious and not mocking her strange new affection for him.
She released the breath she hadn't realized she was holding, let go of his hand (though she really hated to do it, but it would've been awkward to try to keep a hold of it), and kissed him on the cheek. "Yes."
So many thoughts and feeling flew through her all at once, that she couldn't identify them before the next was moving into place for a split second. The last one, the one that stuck, was a mixture of relief and joy. He likes me. He knows everything about me, and he likes me.

Mike kept his eyes closed, his chest heaving a little bit with the heavy breaths he took. He almost didn't hear her say yes. But her warm lips with the kiss on the cheek brought him to his senses, and heard her say yes. He looked up into her eyes and kissed her on the cheek, then a quick kiss on her lips, he wrapped his arms around her pulling her into an embrace. As he hugged her, he looked over the lake, he was grinning very widely and was shaking alot, but hoped she couldn't feel his shakyness. When he was finally able to speak, he said, "When I first saw you this year, at first it was just like any other year, you, my best friend, but then when I saw you again, really saw you, I saw you as more than a friend, and I couldn't take the feelings eating me inside, I had to ask you, and I'm glad I did." he said.
