Riley was pretty positive Mike was being nice about the Audrey thing. But that was okay. Girls were like that. Riley understood it and accepted it.
He gestured to her if she wanted a hug...
Riley accepted that offer with thinks. For the first time, Riley felt accepted. She felt friendship. It was a new and strange feeling. But it was absolutely lovely. This was a good thing, she was sure. Friendship was something she needed more than anything else.
"Thank you, Mike. You aren't like anybody else. You see people for who they are, past the facade. Nobody else does that, except for maybe...me," Riley laughed. Laughing seemed to be something she did much more often. It was nice.

"Well... I see everyone for who they are, besides teachers." he said smirking. "I'm sure there are Gryffindors your year even who you could make friends with if you tried." Mike said to her, "Now c'mon, getting late, before that damned Doohinger gets out here, we should get inside." he said smirking at the thought of Alfred Doohinger.

"I'm sure there are Gryffindors your year even who would make friends with with if you tried."
"Oh, I'm sure there are. Maybe. It's the trying that gets me. Not really sure why. Or maybe I'm just too picky about who I choose as friends. I'm sure it's some personality flaw of mine though. It can't be everybody else's fault, that's for sure," Riley told Mike.
"We should get inside."
"You're right. We should. It's definantly after hours. And I don't have a convenient little note giving me permission. Although, I'm sure detention would raise my popularity status," Riley laughed at her own joke, even though it wasn't all that funny. She just enjoyed the laughter; the sound and the feeling of pure bliss that laughted brought.
She was ready for this change. She was ready to be somebody different. Life was worth more than the way she had been living. And her last few precious years at Hogwart were definantly worth more.
