Mike Blaze laid on his back on the grass near the front steps of the castle. He almost felt like getting up to get closer to the lake, but this spot was alright and figured he'd stay. One arm across his chest, the other over his forehead attempting to block most of the sun out of his eyes. Winter would be coming soon, and Mike planned on taking full advantage of these last weeks of summer. Quidditch Season also being right around the corner, Mike knew, as Captain and Beater of the Ravenclaw team, he oughta get some practicing in by himself before the team practices started, but hell, he had plenty of time. He took his position on the team seriously, but he could worry about all the important stuff later, right now was just sit back and relax time.
OOC: Btw, Riley, if you need to say somethin outside of the RP you could always use the chat or you can type ooc: which means out of chat below the RP part. Sorry if this is kinda plain and boring, but eh...

Riley O'Connor sat on the front steps of the castle. People walked past her, in and out of the castle, but they didn't notice her. She didn't mind. She was quiet and would rather watch people than for people to watch her. She stared out onto the front lawns of Hogwarts, searching for people who caught her attention. One guy did. He was a Ravenclaw. A year older than her, she believed. He was laying in the grass, and she watched him curiosly.

Mike sat up for a moment. He always had this odd sense when he knew he was being watched, he surveyed the students down near the lake carefully, none of which were paying himself the slightest bit of attention. He didn't mind people watching him, but just the feeling in the pit of his stomach was making him curious, when he saw no one near the lake that might've been the one watching him, he groaned and fell back on the grass, rolling over on his stomach for a minute. The sun began to grow hot, and he became tired, which was actually unusual for him in some cases. He rolled back on to his back, none of his friends still appeared not to be anywhere in sight, where was Audrey when Mike wished she was with him the most now. Or even, where was Katelynn, even her, although as impolite and sometimes self centered, company he wouldn't mind now. Mike laughed to himself thinking about this. FInally rolled back to his stomach and pushed himself up to his feet. He turned around, facing the castle, atlas there was the source of the watching that he had been worrying about. A fifth year Gryffindor, by the looks of her. He slung his bag over his shoulder and made his way up the lawns to the school. He stopped when he was a few feet from her. "You must be bored, if you've taken to watching people." he said with a laugh and a grin, so she knew that he didn't mind at all that she was watching him.

"I wasn't watching you," Riley denied. She couldn't lie. She could feel her face turning red, blending into her red, curly hair. She brushed a curl out of her brown eyes, and made herself look up at him. She studied his face and wondered what his name was. She had seen him before, on the grounds and in the crowded corridors. She had wondered about him before, for some reason. She wasn't quite sure. She guessed he was just one of those people who caught the attention of others. "What is your name?" Riley asked him.

"Damn kids ... Why do I work here, anyway? I'm a veteran, for God's sake, I could easily get a nice place at one of those fancy homes ..."
Alfred's ranting could be heard halfway across the school on a good day, and, well, today was a very good day for ranting. He cursed and muttered under his breath as he hobbled along the halls. He was getting much too old for this. He had fought in the first wizarding war, didn't people have any respect for him? Apparently not, especially not these kids. Always running about and mucking up the place. If it was up to Alfred, he would leave this place entirely and never set foot here again. It was nice when he was coming to school, but that was ages ago, wasn't it? Yes, it was, he told himself. He didn't want to be there when he was younger and he didn't want to be here when he was old.
Deciding that he should probably head outside for a smoke (see, unlike these dumb kids, he was considerate to his fellow staff members who didn't smoke) of his lovely pipe, he opened the great oak doors that lead to the lawns. Many students rushed pass him at the sight of sunlight, and he cursed at them. "Bloody kids! No damn idea of proper respect! Off with the lot of ya, in my opinion!" Al ignored the two students and sat down on the stone steps, still muttering angrily. He brought out his old, gnarled wand and lit the tip of his old pipe alight. He put the end to his lips and inhaled deeply. Mmmmm, yes, that's the stuff! Drowned out all of the yelling from those selfish devil spawn ...

"I wasn't watching you,"
Mike laughed to himself, "Don't worry about it, I don't mind at all." adding on to this as he saw her face grow red, "Don't be embarrased, alot of people watch others anyways. No harm done." He had only seen this girl once as far as he could recall, probably in the corridors, or out here even. He studied her face for a minute. This girl's red hair reminded him alot of Audrey's but knew this girl's last name was O'Connor, didn't know her first name yet, so he figured there was no relation. Answering to her question, he replied, extending his hand, "Mike Blaze, and you?"

"Riley O'Connor," she answered taking his hand. It was odd for her. She never shook hands with anybody. Not even when the gesture was offered. It was just a habit she had never developed and had never found too appealing. You never knew where people's hands had been. But there was something about this guy that she didn't mind shaking his hand. She smiled. "I really wasn't watching you, exactly. I was just sorta watching. People are interesting, ya know. It's better than doing nothing." Riley said to Mike.

"Yes, I suppose that's true." he answered, "And good to meet you Riley O'Con..." he was cut off by Alfred Doohinger's constant complaining. Smoke filled Mike's nose, he was sort of use to it. His father use to smoke alot, and it never bothered him then, although that was a long time ago, so the smoke bothered him now a bit, but seeing how Alfred's mood was, he felt it best not to act like it bothered him. "Bad day, Mr. Doohinger?" Mike asked politely. Mike had a tendency to make fun of teachers behind their backs, the ones he disliked anyhow, and Mr. Doohinger was probably his least favorite staff member, but none the less he didn't want Mr. Doohinger to think badly of him, conrtrary to how Mike thought of Alfred.

Alfred let out an obnoxious, hacking cough. Damn kids. It was all of this running around that made him cough like that, definitely not his smoking habit. He glared at the teenagers next to him, convinced that the coughing was all their fault. But, they looked old enough, and quite laidback, so maybe not. Maybe they respected him enough, they were being rather considerate and leaving him alone. Squinting, he held out the pipe to the both of them and said, "Any of you care for a whiff? I won't tell no one."
OOC Salina was angry that she had to modify her post but she did it anyway. "What do you lot care? Always dragging mud everywhere you go ... but no, today is good, very nice day. Lovely outside. Nice day for a smoke."

"Deep dislike, eh?" Riley laughed as soon as Al was out of earshot. She saw Mike's reaction when the grumpy old man walked by, and Mike's feelings toward Al were quite apparent to Riley, but probably not noticeable to anybody else. Riley paid attention to people. She noticed little things that nobody else did. Everyone had always thought she was weird cause she was observant, but Riley thought it just made her more creative, artistic, and understanding of the world.

OOC: Mike's wish is Audj's command. I'm bored and I want to RP. THEREFORE....I shall interrupt this one. *sigh* Ok...commencing in approximately 2.9 seconds.... IC: Audrey had had a meeting with Professor McKlennon about her not having signed up for her class this term. In the end, Audrey had been convinced to add the class. Oh well, she thought. I always did like charms. At the moment, the girl was looking for Mike, and seeing as it was a nice day, she figured he would be down by the lake. Audrey took off her robe and stuffed in her bag, just before she got to the entrance hall, exposing her muggle clothing underneath: a green tanktop and light blue jeans. It should be pretty warm outside, she thought to herself. As she walked out the door, she nearly tripped over Mike on the steps. Audrey looked down and saw Riley, a fifth year in her house. She didn't really know the girl very well, but she knew her well enough to know that she didn't speak to very many people. How odd, Audrey thought. Audrey threw her arms around Mike's neck and kissed him. "What, one redhead isn't enough for you?" she asked, playfully. Turning to the quiet girl on the steps, she said, "Hey Riley. Was Mike being nice? I hope he didn't embarass me." The girl knew that Mike would never do that. On purpose.

At Al's offer Mike merely shook his head. "Uh no thanks..." once Riley had made sure Al was out of earshot and said, "Deep dislike, eh?" Mike just shook his head at this. "You don't even know... I never associate myself with people like him, but as he's a staff, it makes my goal all that much more harder." as he said this and looked over his shoulder at the mountains across the lake, he didn't realise Audrey had come out, when she threw her arms around her, he knew almost at once who it was, and the kiss definetly reminded him. He kissed her back, and when she turned to question Riley, Mike put an arm around Audrey's shoulders as he always did when he was around, he just couldn't resist it. "What, one redhead isn't enough for you?" Mike grinned at this, "More than one for a friend that is," Mike said, laughing a bit. He leaned in close to her to whisper into Audrey's ear, "But there's only one redhead, the most beautiful one who will always be my girl." he said, and kissed her on the cheek.
OOC: Mike always having to sometimes make the scene awkward with others around. Well not so awkward, since him and Audrey are together.

Riley was embarrassed. She didn't realize Mike had a girlfriend.....Oh my god, I'm such and idiot. She thought to herself. She looked at them, mouth gaping open, trying to think of something to say. She felt her whole body turning bright scarlett. She tried to control it, but it was useless. The one time she tried to be socialable and this happen. Complete and utter embarrassment. She was definantly giving up on socializing now.

Audrey watched the girl turn redder and redder. Is she alright? She waited for the younger girl's reply, but it never came. She only turn a more violent shade of red. Ok, then. Don't talk to me.
"Ummmm...Riley?" Audrey was trying to be nice, despite Riley's obvious snub. "Are you feeling alright? You don't look so hot." The older girl looked to Mike, trying to urge him to say something. It looked like she had been talking to him before Audrey walked up. Why is she suddenly so quiet around me? Audrey thought of the few conversations she'd had with the girl in the common room.

Riley tried to smile. A genuine smile. She didn't have a problem with this older Gryffindor girl. Riley didn't really have anything against anyone. She never talked to enough ppl to really form much of an opinion. What she knew of the other students at Hogwarts was based on what she observed, which often told Riley alot. She forced the words out of her mouth, "I'm sorry. I didn't know. Honestly."
