Mike smirked at Kat's response. Pulling his hand from Zachary's shoulder. He had told Zachary about Audrey being his girlfriend, and it wasn't that he didn't trust Zachary, but hey, it was just Mike's personality, being a little too over protective sometimes. He let his other arm now go around Audrey's shoulders. "Well now I'll have a friend in those classes," Mike said, "Not that you two aren't good company..." Mike added in with a small grin, looking from Kat to Audrey.
Mike noticed the rather different tone of Audrey's voice when she greeted him. Something was bothering her. Then when he looked over at her at one point and saw he wrinkling her nose, which he started using as a sign that she was uncomfortable or something along those lines. When Kat questioned Zachary about his classes, Mike leaned closer to Audrey, his head closer to her ear he asked her so only she would hear, "You alright?" he didn't know whether it was the fact that only he and Kat truly knew Zachary, or maybe whatever was bothering her had something to do with whatever Kat and she had been talking about before he and Zachary made their entrance.

"You alright?"
Audrey made herself stop the harsh words that popped into her mind before they had escaped her lips. It wasn't really Mike's fault that she was out of the loop, and, therefore, it would be unfair for her to take her irritation out on him. "I dunno," she answered, quietly.
The girl's turquoise eyes narrowed as she studied the new boy carefully. Not just his body or his face, but the way he stood, walked, shifted his weight from side to side. He was obviously rich; the imported cloaks were an immediate tip off. He was also a loner by nature, apparently. He was keeping a safe distance between himself and the small group. "Charms, Transfiguration, and Potions? We're all in those classes, too. It's too bad you're only taking three courses though. Most sixth years take more. You know, in preparation for whichever path they've chosen to take."
Audrey looked from Mike to Kat and then back to Zachary. Sighing, she sat in the snow once more. She was out of the loop; she might as well look out of the loop as well.

Zachary instinctively turned up his nose just a bit before responding. "Yes, I just don't want to get in over my head just yet." He knew he wasn't ever going to be forced to choose a career, but It was rather rude to state that to someone less fortunate. "Do you want a chair? The snow isn't a smart place to sit, you'll catch pneumonia or something." He said as he revealed his Japanese hand crafted mahogany dark, dark wand.

Audrey smiled politely. "No thanks. If I'd wanted a chair, I would've conjured one for myself. I like the snow. I haven't managed to catch pnuemonia a single time that I've sat in the snow. You can put your fancy wand back inside your fancy robes now. I'm good. I promise," she spouted, her smile widening into a large grin. Well, she had almost managed to be polite to him. She was sure it wasn't personal, however. Merely the fact that she had no ties to the boy, and she didn't have any other avenue to vent. Perhaps, subconsciously, she thought if she ran the boy off, Kat could finish telling her whatever her family emergency had been. The redhead cut her eyes over to her best friend who was being oddly silent. That certainly wasn't average for Kat; at least not with Audrey. Something's up, she brilliantly concluded.

These words annoyed Zachary, but it never took much to annoy him. He toned out the redhead right after she began blabbing about fancy robes, and began to focus on the snow. White always had been a serene color. Gunner, his kat, was white, and probably asleep on his bed. Did I feed him today? Yeah, yeah, right before I signed up for Charms. He ignored Audry's request to put his wand away and was flicking it around sharply to write his name in the snow.

Mike watched Audrey curiously for a moment as she pulled out of his arm and proceeded to sit on the snow with a sigh. Well Mike almost immediately picked up on one thing that was bothering her, both himself and Kat knew Zachary before this little meeting, or so it seemed the way Kat was acting. Audrey who had never met Zachary before this, must be feeling just a little out left out. The one thing that he hated seeing was Audrey uncomfortable, sure he might be a little obsessed over her, but he didn't care, he loved her none the less. He let himself fall back on to the snow next to her, which wasn't the best idea of his, as he was wearing jeans, but he didn't care too much.
Mike watched Kat curiously for a moment, she was rather quiet today, too quiet. Usually the two girls, Audrey and Kat were always talking. Maybe Mike was right, something had gone on before he arrived, a fight perhaps? He let his eyes wander back to Audrey, watching her facial expressions for a moment. Being with the same person for a long time, whether it be a girlfriend, friend, or a family member, Mike could always learn to tell how someone was feeling by their facial expressions, it was a specialty of his. Possibly a third thing bothering Audrey was Zachary, Mike could definitely sense the rather tense exchange between her and him and the rather annoyed tone of Zachary's voice at different times during the conversation.

Katarina felt as if her body had become one with the ice-caked tree. She was there, but somehow she managed to stay in the shadows- observing. But her eyes seemed to only observe other people observing the situation. Audrey, still caught up in what was previously interrupted by Zachary, seemed to be observing Katarina herself, Zachary observed the group as a whole, and Mike.... Mike just sitting there observing Audrey. Is he always around her? Always needing to be at least within eyesight of here? she felt a twinge of guilt. He had probably been the only one she had to complain or gossip or tell her maniacal plans for taking over the world to. She looked back down at the snow at the thought of "taking over the world". It didn't hold the same sarcastic value it did just a mere two months ago.
Anger built up in Kat. Anger at her family, at herself, old friends, professors, and at the fact that she couldn't even be alone long enough to tell Audrey, her dearest and only friend, the reason for her disappearance. Finally she just- snapped. "Mike! do you always HAVE to follow Audrey around like a lost puppy?! Do you? We were attempting to have a private conversation as to why I've been gone for the past couple of months. But will we ever be able to do that? No. Because you are always here underfoot!" she paused a moment realizing the potentially hurtful things she had said and calmed herself. "Look..." She spoke much softer, like the old Kat, "just, give Zachary a tour of the campus or try to recruit him on the quidditch team. Me and Audrey could really use some girl time." She gave Zachary a weak, but sincerely apologetic smile for her outburst and didn't even dare to look at Audrey for fear of a repercussion at her outburst at Audrey's boyfriend.

Ooc: I hope you guys don't mind if I join... I got an email from Jillian telling me to join back up and I found a minute to post, so here I am Justin treaded through the snow, the latest broom in his right. Despite the cold weather, he had opted to practice a little flying for quidditch. Judging by the slightly painful, cherry red tint to his nose and cheeks, it probably wasn't the best idea in the world. Because you are always here underfoot! The shout accosted his ears from the right. That voice... Could it be? he looked closer. Katarina Devanport. She had disappeared nearly two months ago now... what was she doing back? And why was she yelling at her best friend's boyfriend? He was never one to just ignore his curiosity, so he proudly walked himself over to the small group; self-consciously running a hand through his blond hair which was cold even to the touch. . As he expected there was Audrey, Mike, and Kat... but there was a new person. A guy. In Ravenclaw. He took in this new figure. He had money- obviously by the way he dressed himself. Perhaps as much money as Justin himself. He turned his green eyes to Katarina who seemed as pretty as ever, but with a something different about her. Something a bit darker and angrier. This did nothing but increase his interest in her even more. "Is there a problem here?"

"Is there a problem here?"
That was it. There was far too much yelling for Zachary's taste, his cold blue eyes became glazed over as he became infuriated. His voice was far louder than he intended it to be, but as always it sounded coated in perfection, and confidence. In no way was Zachary intimidated or scared, in fact, he was quite the opposite.
"First off, I am Not a lost soul that has to be spoon-fed. I am Zachary Bloody Pyler! I do not appreciate being treated like an animal, and stared at as if I'm in a Zoo, Audry! Katarina, you don't own her either, and if you recall you were the one who called me over here, so I'f your going to bitch about it, I'll gladly leave. And Mike..." his voice softened a little, as he didn't want to scare off his only friend "you should back off a little." His eyes then made it to the new comer, he had mixed feelings of this boy. His scarf, wrapped tightly around his neck, revealed he was in Slytherin, about Zachary's age, maybe a bit older. His clothes revealed his money, he was wearing some of the same articles Zachary was. His voice was possessive, this pissed Zachary off.
"And who the bloody hell do you think you are?" He said louder than ever, Japanese wand still clenched tightly in his right hand, unconsciously melting the snow around his feet.

Katarina stood in shock for a moment as blood rushed to her face and her wand was withdrawn and rested to her side in her right hand. In the past, she was never one for confrontation, but she seemed to be a different girl now and this- this was too much. There was no way she could prevent anything from coming out now- it was as if the filter between her brain and mouth completely dissipated.
"Look, Pyler." she began. Her voice did not detect a single ounce of intensity as it was before. No, it was calm, collected, dominant, and chiefly cold. "I never said I owned her! I said I wanted a minute alone with her- last time I checked, I was allowed to have that as a best friend." she stepped closer to him, completely allowing the Ferris (Mother's side of the family) name that is etched into Slytherin's history to show through. Her posture displayed nothing but confidence and pride for who she was. "And secondly, I didn't call you over here. That 'hey' was to tell you to go away- it was curt and uninviting. A clear sign that you were interrupting a private conversation. But then I realized it was you and that you were a new student, so I was going to be nice and my sentence trailed off." she stepped even closer to where there was hardly ten inches between there faces. "It's not my fault that you're vacuous enough to not be able to distinguish different verbal tones"
She had noticed Justin's presence, but she dared not look away from Zachary. She was fairly positive that his question was answered.

Audrey's face turned an awful shade of red that clashed horribly with her ginger hair as Kat spat a variation of the same words that had been floating around in Audrey's head as of late. It was one thing for Audrey to think them, but an entirely different animal for Kat to say them aloud. Still, she couldn't find it in her voice to disagree with the harsh statements or to admonish Kat for being so abrupt. Had Audrey herself not just taken her own anger out on the newest rich boy on campus? A soft "Katarina," was all she could manage.
At first, Audrey found the scene slightly amusing, what with Justin friggin McCarter appearing from thin air and Zachary blowing up, but as Zachary continued on his outrageous schpeal, her temper was baited yet again. "Listen, Zach, no one is staring at you like you're in a zoo, much less treating you like an animal. If you want to be melodramatic, I suggest you go make friends with Richelle or Riley. Everyone's just trying to be nice since you waited until the second half of your sixth year to join Hogwarts. Suck it up, kid. Kat, Zachary, Mike -- no one owns me. I'm my own person. Kat's my best friend who has been missing from this repetitive life of mine for quite a bit longer than either of us had planned. Of course we wanted some alone time! Mike is my boyfriend; the love of my life. Sure, he's always here, but he's all I've had. Mike -- Kat and Zachary are both right. You could ease up a bit. I love you. I want to spend the rest of my life with you. I don't, however, want to spend every waking moment with you, never having a second to myself. Never having a minute to breathe or think on my own. Justin, to answer you question, yes. There are quite a few problems here. But you can't really do anything about any of them, can you?" Audrey inhaled sharply, letting the bitter cold air sting her throat on it's way down, stifling any lingering words that might try to find their way up and out. The cool air rushing to her lungs caused the flush of her cheeks to fade and the surge of adrenaline in her blood to calm. Speaking her mind had made her feel better, but how would everyone else feel about what she thought? It was too late to do anything about it now. The cat was out of the bag.
The girl's greenish blue eyes raked across the faces in the small crowd that had managed to gather in the biting cold. There were only two faces that contained any meaning to her. Kat and Mike. Only their thoughts were of any importance to her. Audrey hoped that she hadn't offended either too badly. Say what you need to say, right?

Mike had felt the tension building up, but didn't know when or if it would hit breaking point. Kat was the first to snap, first bashing on Mike for being almost like a little lost puppy, which Mike could not argue with, he loved Audrey and he agreed he was obsessed, maybe just a little too obsessed. After Kat snapped, Justin arrived, Mike didn't look over at Justin at all. Mike had always had a problem with Justin since he met him, so Mike wasn't going to go give Justin the satisfaction of thinking he was welcome here.
The next person to speak up was Zachary, who first began to jump all over Audrey. Knowing that wasn't about to hep his case on being a little too protective, owning, or what not of Audrey, he got to his feet, looking directly at Zachary, Mike knew Zachary was a good guy, but what he said was to much for the moment in his opinion. "She's right... you're accusing her of treating of you differently, as far as I'm concerned, she was treating you as she treats all her friends, politely. When she gave you her answer about the chair thing, you seemed almost as if you began ignoring her. As for me and her, I admit Kat has a point, but Zachary, you don't know me well enough to begin getting on my case about me needing to back off or not." his breathing was a little heavier, he hadn't planned on adding to this, but he couldn't help himself. When Audrey started to speak, Mike watched her, forcing his breathing to slow down, the heavier his breath, sometimes the more pissed off he became. He only nodded when she mentioned that she needed less time, he knew where she was coming from and he agreed. Sure, he loved her and was going to marry her, have kids, spend the rest of his life with her, but he had all his life for that, she needed some space, as did he. Turning to look at Kat he said, "I'm sorry for stepping in your conversation then, but for the record, Zachary arrived before I did." he looked at Zachary for a moment, he had been planning on trying to get Zachary on the Quidditch Team and even a tour of the school, but right now, his mind was flying around and he needed some time alone to sort different things out. "I'll let you girls talk, I have some things to do..." he said in almost an unlike Mike way, he didn't have things to do, more of things to think out. Too much crap going on. "I'll see you later." he said as he kissed Audrey on the lips quickly, his tone of voice still a little out of sorts. Then a second later, he turned and walked up the lawns back to the Castle.

"Zachary, you don't know me well enough to begin getting on my case about me needing to back off or not." By this point Zachary knew he had pissed off his house-members, but he did not care. He wanted to speak his mind and dammit if he wouldn't. Fitting in was not on the top of his priorities list. Power was. Practicing magic, improving magic, and inventing magic. No other student was going to act as a speed-bump to him. He'll get over it in time, you need to get to work. Take a flight and chill off
As Mike made his exit Zachary knew he was no longer welcome. Without a salutation, or even an acknowledgment he raised that dark wand of his and made a perfect flicking motion. Moments later the latest broom (imported and jet black of course) zoomed to his side. And he was off.
